Beaver Creek Trail Map

Rating: ★★★★ (4/5 Stars)

Summary: Beaver Creek Resort is a beautiful mountain located about 2 hours from the Denver area. Beaver Creek offers a lot of beginner and intermediate terrain with the option to kick it up a notch if you are looking to challenge yourself on more difficult terrain or via back-country access. Beaver Creek has a large base area with a variety of hotels, properties, shops and restaurants right on the foot of the mountain. If you have a young family or people in your party who are not “expert” skiers or snowboarders, this would probably be my pick for you. Beaver Creek is known for its long vertical drops (trail length) on most trails and certainly offers more difficult terrain, but in my opinion most of the mountain is very doable for those not looking to hit black diamonds all day long.

Strengths: Beaver Creek Resort is great for the beginner or intermediate skier and snowboarder. Terrain-wise, the majority of the mountain is strongly suited for those looking to cruise blues and greens all day long. I also find myself heading to a lot of the back-country access that Beaver Creek has to offer since, generally speaking, it is not crowded at all. If you like to ski or ride trees, check out the right half of the mountain (trail map right – Bachelor Gulch Mountain) as there are a ton of fun areas to ride through the aspens here.

Weaknesses: Logistics-wise, the right half of the mountain (trail-map right) can be difficult to access for some (particularly snowboarders) and might be easier to miss if you do not start your day there. Many of the trails that connect the left half of the mountain to the right, are long flat trails which can be a pain when you are on a snowboard or cruising soft snow. I wouldn’t consider many parts of Beaver Creek extremely snowboard friendly.

Mick’s Tip: Don’t forget to check out the great terrain towards the right side of the mountain (Lakespur Express, Bachelor Gulch Express etc). Also, if you are looking for a “on the mountain dining experience,” Beaver Creek offers several different locations all with fantastic views of the surrounding resort.

Parking: Edit:  As of November 2016, parking at Beaver Creek is no longer free.  View a complete parking map here.  If you do end up parking at the lower lots, be sure to take “Leav the Beav” trail which brings you much closer to said lots.
